Dr Sian Mew

I'm a GP and dermatologist with a special interest in skin health, skin cancer diagnosis and skin surgery. I qualified in Medicine from Guy's and St Thomas' Medical School in London before completing my GP training in 2004.

Following several years working as a GP and GP Partner, a desire to better understand skin disease led me to spend time in local dermatology clinics, where I quickly discovered the specialty I was meant to practise. What began as an opportunity to learn soon became a career that I have loved ever since. Over the past 12 years, I have worked extensively in dermatology, developing expertise in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of skin conditions, skin lesion assessment and skin surgery.

Today, I divide my time between dermatology practice and minor surgical procedures, including comprehensive skin lesion and mole assessments, skin cancer detection and simple skin excisions.

Having experienced severe acne myself as a young adult, I understand how profoundly skin concerns can affect confidence and wellbeing. That personal experience has shaped the way I care for my patients. I know that skin conditions are never "just skin", and I believe every patient deserves to feel listened to, understood and involved in decisions about their care.

Patients often tell me they appreciate my approachable and reassuring manner. I pride myself on taking the time to understand each person's concerns, explain findings clearly and ensure they feel comfortable and confident throughout their consultation. Whether you're attending for a routine mole check, a skin concern or a minor procedure, my aim is for you to leave feeling informed, reassured and in safe hands.

Outside of work, I'm a proud mum of three and enjoy spending time outdoors in Dorset, travelling whenever I can, and starting my weekends with Parkrun.
